Add and Choose a SoundFont

Load the instrument bank used to turn MIDI events into audible instruments.

Load a SoundFont

  1. 1

Open SoundFont management from the player control bar.

  2. 2

Open the folder or upload area and choose a .sf2 file from your device.

  3. 3

Wait for the file to finish preparing. Large SoundFonts may take longer and use more memory.

  4. 4

Return to playback and test a song. If MIDI plays without the expected instruments, reopen SoundFont settings and confirm the selected bank.

Important notes

MIDI needs a sound bank

A MIDI file contains performance instructions, not recorded instrument audio. The SoundFont supplies the instrument samples.

Choose one that fits the device

A very large bank can increase loading time and memory use, especially on phones.

Keep the original file

The browser stores a local copy for use, but keeping the original .sf2 file makes recovery or moving to another device easier.

If there is no sound after loading

Transfer a SoundFont to another device
